The “frames” for the miniatures and the marginal grotesques were inspired by the Hours of Jeanne d’Evreux, a very small book dating the 1320s, illuminated by Jean Pucelle’s Parisian workshop. The figures from miniatures themselves were drawn from several sources from roughly the same time period. To create a unified look, I used similar backgrounds for all of them.
