Grettir’s AoA

This AoA scroll was done using techniques and materials as close as possible to those described by Cennini in his treastise Il Libro dell’ Arte, in the section about “drawing on tinted paper.” The source image is from The Travels of Sir John Mandeville (British Library, Add. Ms. 24189), illuminated in Prague c. 1410. My pigments included ultramarine blue, which I extracted myself from lapis lazuli using Cennini’s method. Here is a PDF of the full documentation.
