Late Gothic Netherlandish Book
This is a blank book that uses real wood boards, a leather cover, and brass furnishings, created in late fall of 2006. This is a prototype for an illuminated book that I am working on now and hope to have finished by Spring Coronation 2007. Of course, I also made lots of mistakes in the process, notably a far-less-than-perfect job of gilding the page edges. (But hey, I was working from a one-paragraph description of the process! I now own an *entire book* about edge finishing. Don’t tell anyone that the experiments thus far haven’t been that successful either.) |
