Pilgrimage Card
This little card is one of 17 cards made for Atlantian 12th Night in January 2009. It is modeled on two pilgrimage cards from a shrine in Bronholm, East Anglia, from the late fifteenth century, which are reproduced in Eamon Duffy's book, Marking the Hours. I reworked the text and image to reflect the theme of 12th Night, but the layout and general flavor remain the same. All 17 cards were done on opaline vellum, and most of the pigments are authentic to the period. Shell gold was used for the accents.
