Court Baronage Scroll

This scroll was commissioned by Master Tristan Alexander and was completed in June 2008. I made the tempera paints from dry pigments and glair (beaten egg white) as binder. The pigments used were vine black, burnt umber, red ochre, yellow ochre, glauconite (terra vert), lapis lazuli, and titanium dioxide (modern substitute for toxic lead white). The surface support is opaline vellum, and the source is the Farnese Hours, Rome, 1537-1546.
